Background: Grupo Integradora Vics has supported and exported Fairtrade, organic avocados since 2018. Uniting 40 farmer members, Integradora Vics is motivated to effect change in the avocado industry by adopting sustainable agricultural practices and providing resources for farmers to ensure a better quality of life. Vics’ experience with partnering with small farmers spans since before attaining a Fairtrade certification, highlighting their desire to support local farmers and communities.
Premium Projects: With the goal of supporting a better quality of life for their local communities, Integradora Vics has supported farmer-led vermiculture projects that create organic fertilizers, pictured above, to distribute among farmer members. This has helped reduce farmer input costs and placed more profits in the hands of farmers. Vics also continuously collaborates and supports local pediatric hospitals dedicated to cancer research.
